FORT ERIE, ONTARIO – The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., Member of Parliament for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced funding for the 26th Fort Erie Friendship Festival.
“Our Government received a strong mandate from Canadians to invest in local events, like the Fort Erie Friendship Festival,” said Minister Moore. “By supporting this annual festival, our Government is delivering on its commitment to strengthen our economy and support our arts, culture, and heritage.”
“It is a great pleasure to share some very good news with the Town of Fort Erie,” said Minister Nicholson. “I’d like to congratulate the organizers of the Friendship Festival for what will certainly be another successful international festival on the Canada Day long weekend. This festival will encourage tourism, and benefit our local businesses.”
Fort Erie Festivals has received over $70,000 in funding to help present its international Friendship Festival, which will take place from June 29th – July 2nd, 2012.
The Harper Government created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that promote arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
